Sydney Morning Herald is a newspaper in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia covering local news, sports, business, jobs, and community events.
The Morning Herald was founded in 1831 as the Sydney Herald. It was re-named the Sydney Morning Herald in 1852. It is the oldest continuously published newspaper in Australia.
In 1949, the newspaper began a Sunday edition, the Sunday Herald. In 1953, this publication merged with the newly acquired Sun to form the Sun-Herald, a tabloid that remains the Sunday counterpart of the Morning Herald. The newspaper has an average circulation number of 209,500 for its weekday editions and 340,127 for its Saturday edition (March 2011).
