Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS)

Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) is a TV station in Bhutan covering television networks entertainment.

The Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) is the state-owned radio and television service in Bhutan. It is funded by the government of the Kingdom of Bhutan, and is the only television service permitted to broadcast inside the country. While television reception was limited to the capital city Thimphu for years, in February 2006 BBS became available across the country via satellite. Bhutan may have been the last country in the world to maintain a ban on television broadcasting, although that changed on June 2, 1999, the night of the silver jubiliee of Jigme Singye Wangchuck, a former King of Bhutan who is credited with initiating many modern reforms in this very traditional country.

This TV station is owned by the government of Bhutan.

The web site is presented in the English language.
