The Brockville Recorder & Times began publishing on January 16, 1823 as the Brockville Recorder. The Daily Times, a competing publication, was established in 1883. The two newspapers merged as the Recorder & Times on February 1, 1918. Quebecor acquired the newspaper in 1998.
