ChinaVision and the People's Daily Online Obtained Rights to Operate Mobile TV

"HONG KONG, December 21, 2009 -- ChinaVision Media Group Limited announced that it has signed agreement with the People's Daily Online to set up a joint venture company which will operate mobile TV business in China and also acquired all shares of Youline Technology Company, which will allow it to become a value-added business partner with the leading mobile telecommunication operators in China.

This will also provide the Group with a high quality and stable multi-billing network and powerful mobile channel resources for promotion, enabling it to quickly integrate visual entertainment media resources and introduce new digital products to around 700 million mobile users in China.

China has strict licensing requirements for mobile TV operation and so far only seven operators have been licensed.

The partnership with the People's Daily Online, the largest official website in China, will give ChinaVision an enlarged market and immense development potential."

The People's Daily, the newspaper of China's Communist Party, will expand its coverage, the Associated Press reported on June 16, 2009:

"The ruling Chinese Communist Party's official newspaper, the People's Daily, is expanding its coverage as part of a reported multibillion-dollar drive to expand China's international media influence.

The staid daily that chronicles the activities of the party leadership and publishes editorials praising official policies plans to expand from 16 to 20 pages with more coverage of breaking and international news, it said in a notice on its Web site Tuesday.

The newspaper's 72 foreign and domestic bureaus will be upgraded, it said, without giving details.

The announcement comes just days after state broadcaster CCTV announced plans to revamp its news broadcasts for the first time in a decade to combat a sharp decline in viewership."
