M6, or Métropole 6, is a leading national television channel in France airing original productions along with American and British TV series and movies. M6 launched in March 1987, taking the place of TV6.
It is owned by RTL Group (Radio Television Luxembourg), a subsidiary of the German company Bertelsmann, one of the largest media companies in the world. RTL Group is Europe's largest broadcaster, operating 56 television channels, eight streaming platforms and 36 radio stations. The television portfolio includes RTL Television in Germany, M6 in France, the RTL channels in Belgium, Luxembourg, Croatia, Hungary and Antena 3 in Spain. RTL Group's families of TV channels are either the number one or number two in eight European countries.
