Imedi TV is a TV station in Tbilisi, Georgia covering entertainment programs and local news.
Imedi TV was formerly co-owned by by Badri Patarkatsishvili, a media tycoon, and Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. News Corp. purchased the station outright in 2007. Imedi TV was the first to air reports investigating the murder of Sandro Girgvliani, former head of the United Georgian Bank's foreign department. At a news conference on February 21, Sandro Girgvliani's mother demanded an official investigation into her son's death, saying that officials from the Interior Ministry “masterminded my son's murder.” The station is considered a chief competitor of the state-influenced Rustavi 2 television station.
