The chairperson of India's Censor Board announces modernized guidelines, Malayala Manorama reported on December 26, 2009:

"Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, who is the chairperson of the Censor Board, Friday said that the guidelines for issuing film certificates would be made "modern and contemporary".

The Board had already submitted a draft of amendments to the government, Tagore who is here to take part in the International Film Festival of Kerala, told reporters. Referring to the planned changes she said, "We have made it modern and contemporary.

The Parliament was expected to pass the amendments in the next session. We have also asked for more categories of certificates." Tagore who acted in the Malayalam film ’Chuvana Sandhayakal’, said that she would love to act in a film by National Award winning filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan."
