IRIB TV News is a TV station in Tehran, Iran covering local news, sports, business, jobs, and community events.
IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting), formerly called the National Iranian Radio and Television prior to the Iranian Revolution of 1979, is a large Iranian corporation controlling multiple radio and television channels throughout Iran and the greater Asian and Pacific region. IRIB's flagship television station is known as Channel 1, the network also broadcasts national channels; IRIB Channel 2, IRIB Channel 3, IRIB Channel 4, and IRIB Channel 5.
Founded in 1926 with its radio broadcasting division, IRIB has branches in 45 countries worldwide including Malaysia, UK and the United States and is broadcast in over 25 languages.
The Iranian constitution specifies that IRIB's director of organization is to be chosen directly by the Supreme Leader for a five year period. Furthermore, IRIB is overseen by representatives of the judiciary, executive and parliament of Iran.
This TV station is owned by the Iranian government.
