Yomiuri Shimbun is a daily newspaper in Tokyo, Japan covering local news, sports, business, jobs, and community events. Founded in 1874, Yomiuri Shimbun is the largest circulation newspaper both in Japan and around the world. It is published in a number of major Japanese cities, including Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka. It is one of Japan's five "national newspapers," along with Asahi Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, Nihon Keizai Shimbun and Sankei Shimbun. Yomiuri Shimbun established the Yomiuri Prize in 1948; winners have included Yukio Mishima and Haruki Murakami. Yomiuri also publishes The Daily Yomiuri, the leading English-language newspaper in Japan. In addition, the Yomiuri Group publishes a weekly news magazine called The Yomiuri Weekly, and a daily sports newspaper, The Hochi Shimbun.
