Excelsior is a daily newspaper in Mexico City, Mexico covering local news, sports, business, jobs, and community events. Excelsior is a daily newspaper founded in Mexico City on March 18, 1917 by Rafael Alduncin. Today the newspaper is still associated with the work of Julio Scherer Garcia, its editorial director from August 1968 to July 1976. Regarded as one of the great Mexican journalists, Scherer Garcia covered the events of October 2, 1968, when Mexican government troops massacred hundreds of student protesters at La Plaza de Tres Culturas in Mexico City.
