WCIQ TV 7 is an affiliate of the PBS Television Network.

First aired in 1955 as the first station of the Alabama Public Television (APT) network, WCIQ covers the northwestern portion of Alabama. APT is a network of public television stations created by the Alabama state legislature in 1953. When the APT network of stations first aired in 1954, Alabama became the first state in the nation with an educational television network. The network continues to offer an educational resource for viewers of all ages 24 hours a day.

WCIQ used the call letters WTIQ from its 1955 sign-on until 1959.

This TV station is owned by Alabama Public Television.
