The Birmingham News (AL.com) is a daily newspaper in Birmingham, Alabama, USA covering local news, sports, business, politics and community events.

The newspaper is published seven days a week.

It is one of the best American media outlets, according to Mondo Times members.

The Birmingham News is no longer published in print and was effectively replaced by the digital news service AL.com after February 26, 2023, when the final print edition of The Birmingham News was published. On the same day, operating company Alabama Media Group (a unit of Advance Local Media) also ended print publication of sister papers the Huntsville Times and Mobile Press-Register.

Alabama Media Group now publishes a daily e-edition of the three newspapers called "the Lede," a journalistic term meaning the introducion of a news story written to catch the reader's interest. The Lede is published in three city-specific editions.

The Birmingham News was the largest newspaper in Alabama in circulation and readership, first published in March 1888 as The Evening News. The paper was published daily until October 1, 2012 when it reduced print publication to three days a week (Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays). The Huntsville Times and Mobile Press-Register made the change at the same time.

"Policing for Profit" in Brookside Alabama
