The Barnesville Herald-Gazette was founded as the Gazette by E.T. Pound and Charles Lambdin in 1867. In 1978, the Gazette was sold to Bob Tribble. On February 6, 1980, the Gazette was bought out by the competing Barnesville Herald, owned by Laura and Walter Geiger. The resulting combination was the Herald-Gazette.
