The Rockdale Citizen covers local news, sports, community events and opinions in the city of Conyers and across Rockdale County in central Georgia.
It was founded in July 1953 as a weekly newspaper. It became a semi-weekly (Tuesday and Thursday) in 1972. Millard Grimes acquired the newspaper on December 9, 1977 and on August 1, 1978 The Rockdale Citizen published its first daily (Monday through Friday) edition. In June 1994, Grimes sold the Citizen to Gray Communications of Albany, Georgia.
