The Dodge County News was established in October of 1989. It was the first weekly in Dodge County, Georgia to publish a full color picture, the first to publish an issue in excess of 100 pages (August 31, 1994), the first to be available via the Internet and the first to publish the entire newspaper online. On January 1, 2007, The Dodge County News purchased their rival newspaper of 18 years, The Times Journal, from Rosebud Publishing, Inc. The two newspapers were combined under the name of The Dodge County News.
