The Honolulu Advertiser was the largest newspaper in Hawaii until it merged with its competitor the Honolulu Star-Bulletin on June 7, 2010, to form the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. The Advertiser was founded in 1856 as the weekly Pacific Commercial Advertiser in the whaling port of Honolulu. When the Honolulu Advertiser shut down, had a circulation of 115,000.
