The Mountain Home News covers local news, events and people in the town of Mountain Home in southwestern Idaho. The official paper of Elmore County, the newspaper is published every Wednesday with deadlines on Friday by 1pm.
The paper has written that "In the 19th century, most small towns weren't considered complete until they had a church and a newspaper." The Range and Valley newspaper began publication in 1883 and on June 2, 1888 became The Mountain Home Bulletin, the first newspaper in the new town of Mountain Home. From there, over many decades various owners of the paper changed its name until June 26, 1947, when it was purchased by Robert and Eleanor Cooley who renamed it the Mountain Home News. Rust Communications acquired the paper in October 1997.

Mountain Home News Names Brian Orban Managing Editor I think what everybody has forgotten in this whole thing is that everything is hear say no one heard the person in question even state that they were going to bring in a gun. Sounds to me like a game of telephone gone mad. We all need to stop a moment and talk to our children about spreading rumors and gossiping becasue in the end someone gets hurt!!
