The newspaper is published five days a week, Monday through Friday.
The Herald traces its roots to the founding of the weekly Western Herald on September 8, 1868. In March 1871, the name was changed to the Carroll Herald. The Carroll Times was started in 1897. In 1936 the Herald Publishing Company purchased the Times. The newspapers continued as separate publications. By 1941, they were combined into the Daily Times Herald.
