Leo Chisholn Osage, Iowa | Posted at 3:20pm on Friday, December 19th, 2008 | The Mitchell County Press-News is a great example of a small town Iowa newspaper, covering the stories and features the elderly subscribers want. They are the only source for local news in Osage. In fact a nearby television station in Mason City simply reads their website and copies stories for their newscast. This newspaper is high quality and has much more credibility than KIMT Channel 3

Diana Jagenberg-Trout Chicago & Minneapolis U.S.A. | Posted at 3:41pm on Thursday, October 25th, 2007 | Having a grandfather who was with the Diplomatic Corp. & Editor-in-chief of a German newspaper provided me with many lessons in journalism, most importantly, how to appreciate very good journalism and dismiss that which is not.
It is very sad to see the level of writing & reporting that transpires in what should be an informative daily newspaper.
I find it frightful to believe the good people of Osage can be so lacking in intellect to actually accept this as an informative resource particularly since everyone is fairly well networked in this global society unless they are dwelling under a rock.
Surely there is more to spark the forward thinking individual than the mundane pablum that is spooned in this newspaper.
I am fully considering the provincial make-up of the readership but they deserve more credit than this.
The poor grammar and syntax would send a junior high English teacher into a tizzy. However, the most demeaning is the content. Unless you are a character named Goober or Betty Jo from 1960's Mayberry or Petticoat Junction you should feel highly insulted that the subject matter is considered newsworthy.
