The World Company purchased the newspaper in 1999 from Don and Mary Waterman, who had owned it since 1991. The Mirror has won first place in the Inland Press Association's Best Non-Daily Newspaper Contest in 2001 and from 2004 to 2006. The paper took third place in 2008.
