WCSH TV 6 is an affiliate of the NBC Television Network.
WCSH TV 6 began broadcasting on December 20, 1953 from the Congress Square Hotel in Downtown Portland, from which the station's call letters are derived. WCSH-TV was owned by the Rines family, who had built the hotel in 1896. WCSH-TV was the flagship of the Maine Broadcasting System, which also included WLBZ TV 2 in Bangor. The radio stations were sold off in 1981. In 1998, the company was acquired by current owner Gannett.
