Founded in June 2007 by publisher Brad Rourke, the site covered breaking local news, politics, elections, development, city and county issues, events, recreation, entertainment, business, crime reports, volunteer opportunities, and contributor opinions. Rockville Central called itself a "community blogs" and it was started to give people a civil and courteous way to participate in their community.
