The Enterprise was founded in 1881. It was sold in 1996 to a joint venture headed by Myron F. Fuller and James F. Plugh. In 2006, the Enterprise was sold to Liberty Publishing, which changed its name to GateHouse Media as part of a $225 million deal including Community Newspaper Company and its four Massachusetts dailies.
