Eric Kallgren Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 11:41am on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 | Jeff Payne has rejoined the New Baltimore Voice as editor.
On March 25, 2009, Jeri Packer of the New Baltimore Voice reported:
"Journalist and editor Jeff Payne is back at The Voice office in New Baltimore again - this time as the new editor.
Payne returns after more than three years of experience working as the editor at a pair of Voice sister newspapers.
Payne left his associate editor position at The Voice in Dec. 2005 for a job promotion at the County Press, a three-day weekly, based in Lapeer. Payne supervised a redesign that made the paper more reader-friendly, he said.
In Oct. 2007, he took the editor position at the Daily Tribune, a suburban Detroit daily and Web site in Royal Oak also owned by Journal Register Company. Payne worked with the company's tech staff in the Tribune's transition to a new Web publishing format. He also was involved in much of the paper's community outreach, he said.
Payne was born and raised in Chesterfield Township and attended Anchor Bay schools before earning a bachelor's degree at Michigan State University. He has earned many awards and honors from national and state newspaper competitions as an editor and journalist."
