As a Citizen of Traverse City I am very concerned about the fact that the Traverse City Commission does not have a "Code of Ethics" in place of which they must abide by. Without this,city officials are only bound by law as interpreted by the "City" Attorney. This means that Traverse City officials can basically treat citizens in any way they please without reprimand, responsibility or public scrutiny as long as it is within the law.
Traverse City residents have virtually no protection when it comes to unethical practices of commissioners even if those actions could destroy a life. Just ask me ! Check out item K on the Consent Calendar of the July 20th,2009 , Traverse City City Commission Meeting agenda and pertaining packet materials. ( several items were not in the packet as requested but enough is there....BTW, that's not even half of it )
These concerns I have will not just "go away" and neither will I! Ive pretty much lost everything already, there isn't much more they can do to me so all I have to spend my time on is this.
