City Pages

The City Pages was a weekly newspaper in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, USA covering local entertainment, events and culture.

It is one of the best American media outlets, according to Mondo Times members.

City Pages was shut down on October 28, 2020 by owner Star Tribune Media Company LLC, publisher of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The company is owned by billionaire businessman Glen Taylor, who bought City Pages from Voice Media Group in 2015, one year after he acquired the Star Tribune.

Tom Bartel and Kristin Henning founded the newspaper in August 1979 as Sweet Potato, a monthly that covered the local music scene. It took the name City Pages when it began publishing weekly in December 1981. It was distributed free of charge and covered arts and culture in the Twin Cities along with some investigative reporting. The paper was one of the highest circulation publications affiliated with the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN).

The paper was founded in 1979 by Tom Bartel and Kristin Henning. Thirty people have lost their jobs due to the closure. Minneapolis City Pages Sold to Star Tribune
