County Detention Center Plans Right On Track, according to an editorial published in The Prescott (Ariz.) Daily Courier on January 5, 2010:

"Few can argue against the need for a new juvenile detention center. Children are stacked and packed into the current 1974 version, which is next to Yavapai Regional Medical Center West in Prescott and is designed for 24 youths; instead, it often houses as many as 60 young people per day.

However, plans for the new one - off Prescott Lakes Parkway near Sundog Ranch Road - have undergone many, many changes over the years.

The Daily Courier Editorial Board wondered this week if the project would ever be built; moreover, each time the county wants a revision, it must be racking up another $50,000 to $100,000 in plan changes. Right?

Thankfully, no."
