News of Cumberland County is a daily newspaper in Bridgeton, New Jersey, USA covering local news, sports, business, jobs, and community events.
The newspaper is published seven days a week.
The News traces its roots to the founding of the Bridgeton Evening News in 1879. The Schofield family sold the newspaper to the American Publishing Company (later Hollinger International, Inc.) in 1989. MediaNews Group, Inc. bought the Bridgeton Evening News in 1996. Advance Publications, Inc., the privately-held company owned by the Newhouse family, bought MediaNews' New Jersey and Pennsylvania newspapers in 2000. On November 3, 2008, Bridgeton effectively ceased having its own newspaper when the Bridgeton News was printed for the first time as the consolidated regional newspaper, The News of Cumberland County.
