WXXA TV 23 is a TV station in Albany, New York, USA covering Fox network programs, local news and weather.
WXXA TV 23 is an affiliate of the Fox Television Network.
WXXA TV 23 began broadcasting on July 30, 1982. WXXA's original owners were a group of investors led by president and station manager Jim Boaz and movie production company Orion Pictures under the name "Albany TV-23, Inc." On October 6, 1986, WXXA was sold to Heritage Broadcasting. In 1994, Heritage sold the station to Clear Channel Communications, Inc. On April 20, 2007, Clear Channel entered into an agreement to sell its entire television station group to Providence Equity Partners' Newport Television. The deal closed in March 2008.
