The Putnam County News and Recorder is a source of news and information about Philipstown, Cold Spring, Garrison, and the Putnam Valley area of Putnam County, New York, about 60 miles north of New York City. In July 2008, Roger Ailes, the chairman of Fox News, bought the newspaper. He and his wife Elizabeth Ailes, who is the publisher of the paper, had purchased a home in Garrison in 2001.

This newspaper is owned by Hudson Valley Freedom Press, LLC.

In April 2011, the newspaper announced the departure of editor in chief Joe Lindsley. He was replaced by associate publisher Douglas Cunningham.
