"Sue Simmons, the WNBC-4 anchor who gained infamy for using the F-bomb on live television almost two years before Jenny Slate, confessed last week on WNBC's new show LX New York that in the 80's it wasn't unusual for her to show up to work a little bit tipsy. According to Simmons, "...that stopped in the mid '80s, late '80s, because I looked in the mirror before -- when I was about ready to go on the air -- and my eyes were red.""

Mondo Times editors Boulder Colorado USA | Posted at 9:59pm on Tuesday, June 16th, 2009 | WNBC TV in New York is dropping "Live at Five" to launch a lifestyle show targeting "cosmopolitan connoisseurs," Broadcasting & Cable magazine reported on June 16, 2009:
"Almost thirty years after debuting its iconic Live at Five brand, WNBC New York is scrapping 5 p.m. news for an hour-long lifestyle program in the fall.
Produced by NBC Local Media's LX.TV, LX New York will air live from Rockefeller Center and around the market. It debuts September 14.
WNBCLX New York is targeting suburban women who would typically tune in to cable-women's networks like Lifetime, as well as Food Network and Bravo, according to LX.TV founder/General Manager Morgan Hertzan. The show will feature fashion, cooking, gossip and general entertainment fare, including celebrities talking about New York. LX NY talent will frequently venture into the tri-state region's suburbs."
