Founded in 1948, WPIX TV is the flagship station of the CW Television Network. On January 24, 2006, the WB and UPN networks announced that they would merge to form a new network called the CW. In September 2006, WPIX became the CW's New York City affiliate. WPIX has been the official broadcast television home of the New York Mets since 1999.

November 17, 2009: WPIX TV has named Bill Carey its news director. This is a homecoming of sorts for Carey, who has previously worked at WCBS and WABC during his broadcasting career. Carey will assume his new duties at WPIX on November 30th.
Carey has more than 20 years of management experience in television news, coming to WPIX after serving most recently as station manager and news director for WQAD-TV 8 in Moline, Illinois.
"Bill's expertise and experience will be a huge asset to PIX. I look forward to working with him and continuing to grow our presence in local news," said Betty Ellen Berlamino, WPIX President and General Manager.
From 2004 to 2008, Carey served as vice president and general manager of WFTS-TV, the ABC affiliate in Tampa, Florida.
Carey attended St. Francis Prep and is a 1979 graduate of Fordham University with a B.A. in Communications.

LATV on-air celebrity Pili Montilla will emcee an afternoon of free activities that will be accompanied by live music, a salsa competition, and free prizes and giveaways.
