WHEC TV 10 is a TV station in Rochester, New York, USA covering NBC network programs, local news and weather.
WHEC TV 10 is an affiliate of the NBC Television Network.
WHEC TV 10 began broadcasting on November 1, 1953. It is the only station to have been built and signed on by Gannett Company, Inc. WHEC remained Gannett's flagship television station until 1979, when Gannett sold channel 10 to African-American investor Ragan Henry, marking the first time an existing station was purchased by a minority-owned firm. In 1983 Henry swapped WHEC to Viacom Inc. for KDIA in San Francisco. Viacom bought Paramount Pictures in 1994, and made Paramount the parent for all of its stations, including WHEC. However, in 1995, the company decided to divest itself of all stations not affiliated with its fledgling UPN network. In Spring 1996, Paramount traded WHEC to Hubbard Broadcasting Corporation for UPN affiliate WTOG in Tampa, Florida.
This TV station is owned by Hubbard Broadcasting Corporation.
