First broadcast in April 1976, North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC is a public radio network based in Chapel Hill. It is operated by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The network includes three stations; the flagship station is WUNC FM 91.5 from Chapel Hill and its two sister stations, WRQM FM 90.9 from Rocky Mount and WUND FM 88.9 from Manteo. The stations broadcast an all news and information format throughout the weekdays. On weekends, it plays locally produced folk and traditional music.

This radio station is owned by Trustees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
