WTVI TV 42 is a TV station in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA airing PBS network programs, local news and weather.

WTVI TV 42, PBS Charlotte, offers non-commercial, educational programs with a mix of local productions and national PBS shows including children's programs, documentaries and original performances. It is owned by Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The station began broadcasting on August 27, 1965 under the ownership of the local board of education. In 1982, the license was transferred to the not-for-profit Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Broadcasting Authority. After running into financial trouble in 2011, WTVI was sold to Central Piedmont Community College on July 1, 2012.
