WREG TV 3 is an affiliate of the CBS Television Network.
WREG-TV broadcasts throughout the Memphis area. The station began broadcasting on New Year's Day 1956 as WREC-TV. It was later purchased by the New York Times in 1971 and changed its call letters to WREG.
In May 2007, the station became part of Local TV LLC, owned by Oak Hill Capital Partners which took over all of the television stations formerly owned by the New York Times Company.
