Carol Hudler named Tennessean publisher, Ellen Leifeld retires

The Nashville Tennessean reported on November 23, 2009:

"Gannett's U.S. Community Publishing Division has named Carol Hudler president and publisher of The Tennessean in Nashville. Hudler, who had been president and publisher of The News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla., since 2000, succeeds Ellen Leifeld, who announced her retirement today.

Hudler will continue as group president of U.S. Community Publishing's South Newspaper Group, comprising 16 Gannett-owned media operations in five states. The group headquarters will move from Fort Myers to Nashville.

"I look forward to leading The Tennessean and working with this dynamic community," Hudler said.

"This is a very exciting time for local media companies, with transformational changes in how consumers get news and how businesses market themselves. The Tennessean Media Group is well-positioned for success," she said. "We have large and engaged audiences and are taking a multi-platform approach to publishing and marketing."
