WZTV TV 17 is a TV station in Nashville, Tennessee, USA covering Fox network programs, local news and weather.
WZTV TV 17 is an affiliate of the Fox Television Network.
WZTV TV 17 began broadcasting on August 5, 1968 as WMCV-TV. As was typical of many UHF start-ups at that time, WMCV did not attract many advertisers. It went off the air on March 10, 1971. After a false start ended hopes for a 1974 return, new owner Reel Broadcasting brought the station back as WZTV on March 6, 1976, initially branding it as "Z TV" and later "Z 17." In the early-1980s, WZTV was sold to Multimedia. In 1988, Multimedia sold WZTV to Act III Broadcasting. In 1994, Act III merged with Abry. A year later, Sinclair bought most of Abry's stations, including WZTV.
This TV station is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc..
