Galveston Texas Local News Media
Galveston is a coastal city located on Galveston Island in Texas. The city is the seat of Galveston County. Galveston suffered a hurricane that devastated the city in 1900. The storm and its aftermath took the lives of an estimated 8,000 people. Much of Galveston's modern economy is centered in the tourism, health care, shipping and financial industries. The city is the home of the University of Texas Medical Branch campus.
