The Chronotype newspaper is published weekly with news and events in Rice Lake and the nearby communities of Barron County in northwestern Wisconsin. It has been published since 1874, making it the oldest continuously operated business in Barron County. In August 2014 Adams Publishing Group bought the paper from Chronotype Publishing Company, a business owned by a local family.

The Chronotype also publishes The Early Bird, a free circulation news and shopper published on Fridays. It covers all of Barron and most of Rusk counties with a circulation of 28,000.
