The Burbank Leader traces its roots to 1905, when it was founded as The Burbank Review. It was acquired by the Copley Press and subsequently sold to Morris Newspapers in 1974. Ingersoll Publications bought the newspaper in 1980. The Daily Review was replaced by the biweekly Burbank Leader in 1985. Page Group Publishing acquired the paper from Ingersoll in 1989. Times Mirror bought the newspaper in 1993. Tribune Publishing became the new owner when it merged with Times Mirror in June of 2000.
