KUCI FM 88.9 is a radio station in Irvine, California, USA covering local music entertainment.
Founded in 1969, KUCI FM is a non-commercial radio station which broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from the UC Irvine campus. The station is run by volunteer students and community members, and was started inside a closet in the UCI physical sciences buildings. The station plays no mainstream music, and is always looking to help out local and struggling musicians. KUCI says it is "the last bastion against crappy, sound-alike radio in Orange County." The stations 500 watt signal broadcasts can be heard in Irvine, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Orange and Tustin.
