KZSU FM 90.1 is a radio station in Palo Alto, California, USA covering local music entertainment.
KZSU is a non-commercial radio station at Stanford University. Operations are funded mainly by Stanford student fees, plus underwriting and listener donations. The staff of KZSU is all volunteer, made up of assorted locals as well as Stanford students and staff. KZSU is owned by the Trustees of Stanford University and is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the President. The station first obtained an FM license in 1964, and upgraded from 10 to 500 watts in 1978. Before 1964, KZSU broadcast as an AM carrier current station (through the Universitys power supply) on 880 kHz, starting in 1947. On a good day, the 500-watt signal reaches from Oakland and parts of San Francisco in the north, to Fremont and points beyond in the east, and to around Gilroy in the south. This means most of the Bay Area.
