WTTG TV 5 is an affiliate of the Fox Television Network.
WTTG-TV began broadcasting on January 3, 1947. In 1956, WTTG was spun off from DuMont Laboratories as part of the DuMont Broadcasting Corporation. The company later changed its name to Metropolitan Broadcasting. In 1958, Washington investor John Kluge bought controlling interest in Metropolitan Broadcasting. In 1961, Kluge changed the company's name to Metromedia. Metromedia owned the station until 1986 when Rupert Murdoch purchased the Metromedia television stations to form the nucleus of the Fox network.
