Founded in 1892, The Colorado Daily covers the University of Colorado at Boulder along with the city of Boulder and surrounding communities. The Colorado Daily is a free newspaper, available at many venues and street stands around Boulder.
It was CU's student newspaper until 1971, when it went independent after an editorial angered the school's Board of Regents. In September 2005, owner Randy Miller sold the paper to the E. W. Scripps company. In August 2009, Denver based MediaNews Group, owner of the Denver Post and Boulder Daily Camera, bought the newspaper.
