KCFR broadcasts news and talk relevant to Colorado. Its coverage extends throughout Denver and surrounding communities. In July 2008, Colorado Public Radio (CPR) acquired the FM signal 90.1 though CPR also maintains the 1340 AM signal. The radio station began broadcasting in 1970 at the University of Denver. In 1991, it merged with KPRN Grand Junction to form Colorado Public Radio.
