The newspaper is published seven days a week.
It is one of the worst American media outlets, according to Mondo Times members.
The Fort Collins Coloradoan was founded in 1873 as the Larimer County Express. In the 1880s, Henry A. Crafts bought the Express and found seven years worth of paper stacked in the office. To clear the clutter he set the stacks on fire and thereby destroyed evidence of the first seven years of journalism in Fort Collins. In 1902, a new daily edition of the Courier newspaper appeared in response to a request from the manager of an oil well, who wanted a daily paper as an advertising medium. In 1920, the Express and Courier merged into a single daily newspaper. Fort Collins Newspapers Inc. was established in 1937 when Speidel Newspapers acquired The Express-Courier. In 1945, the Express-Courier changed its name to the Fort Collins Coloradoan. Gannett acquired the newspaper when it merged with Speidel in 1977. In 1980, the name of the newspaper was officially changed to the Coloradoan.
Circulation: 20,601 copies
This newspaper is owned by Gannett Company, Inc..
