The Fort Morgan Times newspaper is now owned entirely by Denver-based MediaNews Group, Inc., it was announced on August 27, 2009.

In 2006, E.W. Scripps Company and MediaNews formed Prairie Mountain Publishing Company, consisting of a group of Northern Colorado newspapers owned 50/50 by the two companies.

When E.W. Scripps shut down the Rocky Mountain News in early 2009, they also announced that they would sell their interest in Prairie Mountain Publishing to MediaNews Group.
