Deal To Sell Daytona News-Journal Goes To Federal Judge

The Daytona News-Journal reported on January 6, 2010:

"A deal to sell the News-Journal Corp.’s publishing assets to a new investment company for $20 million went to a federal judge in Orlando today.

Halifax Media Acquisition LLC and Halifax Media Holdings LLC now await a ruling from U.S. District Judge John Antoon II to close the sale, ending a six-year legal battle between Cox Enterprises Inc. and majority owner the Davidson family.

Court receiver Jim Hopson said the deal includes the News-Journal newspaper, the Pennysaver shoppers and the Complete Phone Book, along with the newspaper’s main property at 901 Sixth St. Excluded from the deal are the News-Journal Corp.’s other properties, including bureau offices in New Smyrna Beach, DeLand and Palm Coast, and the Pennysaver building in Ormond Beach."
