El Nuevo Herald is published in Spanish and is one of the most popular foreign language newspapers in the United States. The newspaper was founded in 1976 as El Herald. In 1987 it was relaunched as El Nuevo Herald, although it continued to be distributed as part of sister publication The Miami Herald. In 1998 it was separated from the English language newspaper and sold as a stand-alone publication.
